SR reviews SyFy’s Alice

I feel the new series doesn’t get across a lot of the social commentary of Dodgson’s (Carroll’s) original story (as referenced in the following and my favorite Dogma clip below). Yeah I get it, she’s supposed to be the oyster, but to what extent? Anyone with a tattoo is an oysters and money is the new religion that’s being used to exploit emotion- whoo fucking hoo. Hit me over the head with the moral already. That aside I dont see a running plot after this mini-series. I am getting some heavy tin man flashbacks; cool idea but it just doesn’t pan out when they try to expand on what makes the original content likable.

Oh and Tim “Goddamn-Muppet-Treasure-Island/Rocky-Horror-Picture-Show” Curry is the caterpillar. Really?! I am very afraid this will just add fuel to the over commercialization fire with Burton and mcgees upcoming flicks. Honestly the best part of the show was getting excited over the Caprica commercial teasers, but would have seriously appreciated some footage not already shown in the movie premiere.

Overall, good show but not great. I will keep watching and holding on to hope that this show will work cause I honestly didnt hate it but feel its too early to judge the entire franchise.
